What should I wear?
Body massage/Back, neck and shoulders
You will be asked to remove all clothing except lower undergarments, you will then be covered using several towels. Each towel is only removed during each section of the treatment, you will not be exposed during this time.
Stress buster
A cotton t-shirt and loose leggings (not jeans!). You will remain fully clothed throughout the treatment.
What information do you need?
You must advise the therapist of your lifestyle, how you are feeling, full medical history.
How often should I have a massage?
Your individual needs will impact this, it will be discussed during your consultation.
What are the benefits of a massage?
- To soothe and relax the body and mind.
- To promote sleep.
- To prevent or relieve oedema.
- To warm up the muscles (particularly beneficial for athletes).
- To stimulate blood flow around the body.
- Aids removal of waste products in the body, by improving the lymphatic system.
- Increased metabolism.
- Stimulates circulation.
- Stimulates feelings of well being and prevents lethargy.
- Stimulates muscle tone and softens areas of fat.
- Relieves constipation and flatulence and improves digestion.
- Can be used to promote healing of scar tissue and lubrication of joints.
- Reduces tension nodes.
- Prevents varicose veins.
- Improves nourishment to ligaments and joints.
What should I do after a massage?
- Rest on the bed for 10 minutes to avoid dizziness.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Rest for the remainder of the day.
- Avoid exercise to benefit most from the treatment.
- Don't wash the products used during the treatment off the same day in order to benefit most from the treatment.
- Avoid alcohol, as you may feel drunk more quickly as your metabolism and circulation will have been stimulated.
- Avoid tea and coffee if possible, try to substitute with fruit juice and herbal teas.
- Avoid smoking.
- Avoid using any machinery or driving as you may feel drowsy.
- Try using some of the recommended products at home.
- If you notice any reaction either contact your therapist immediately or seek medical attention if the reaction does not improve within 48 hours.
